Dean, Huge congrats on your new position! I've so enjoyed reading your writing and have learned a bunch of new things on AI/emerging tech policy.

Your quote from Michael Oakeshott made me think of this great essay from Steven B. Smith (political science @ Yale) - In Defense of Politics–(https://www.nationalaffairs.com/publications/detail/in-defense-of-politics)

Also, if anyone missed it, Dean's final regular appearance on the AI Summer pod (https://www.aisummer.org/) was an interesting and fun listen.

Take good care.

Congrats and keep up the great work! We sure will miss you here, and AI discourse will be the poorer for your absence. But duty, and opportunity, call; go get ‘em!

Congratulations. I will note that I do fear that AI governance is not the main priority of the United States with regards to its capabilities and emerging technologies.
